Coffee Sorbettini

At the end of a lovely dinner, I sometimes want coffee, sometimes dessert, and sometimes one more little drink while we keep talking. This is my answer to all three. Coffee sorbet, spiced rum and a touch of chocolate shake together into a chilled cocktail that feels like a small indulgence worth lingering over. Italian sorbetto supplies the dessert inspiration, while the martini glass gives it that familiar American cocktail-hour elegance. I love the bittersweet coffee and chocolate together—it’s a sweet way to finish the evening without having to choose between the dessert menu and the drinks menu.

Mary’s Introduction

Coffee Sorbettini transforms rich coffee sorbet into a smooth dessert cocktail with warm spiced rum and chocolate. The deep roasted coffee flavor balances the sweetness, while the rum and chocolate make each sip rich, aromatic and indulgent.

Why These Flavors Work

Coffee sorbet supplies concentrated roasted flavor, sweetness and a smooth body. Spiced rum adds warmth and aromatic spice, while melted chocolate reinforces coffee’s natural cocoa-like notes and turns the drink into a rich dessert cocktail.

Recipe Guidance

Storage

Keep the frozen coffee component tightly covered in the freezer. Refrigerate any opened perishable mixers according to their package directions, and do not store a fully assembled drink after it begins melting.

Reheating

Do not reheat this frozen drink. If it becomes too firm, let the frozen component stand briefly at room temperature until scoopable; if the assembled drink melts, reblend it with a small amount of ice rather than heating it.

Make Ahead

Prepare and freeze the coffee component ahead. Chill the glasses and other liquid ingredients, then assemble each Sorbettini immediately before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve immediately in chilled glasses as an after-dinner cocktail or dessert drink. Offer a small spoon or straw if the texture is thick.
